Android TV Remote Now on iOS

Control your Android TV with your iPhone or iPad

Andorid TV, Google’s smart TV platform, has released a remote for the iPad and iPhone. The company does not want its users to feel left out and not be able to control their set-top box from a smart device, especially if they prefer iOS devices over Android.

Set-top boxes are clearly an efficient way to enhance the capabilities of a TV, and there are multiple options available in the market. Android TV comes pre-installed on many new TVs. This means if a TV supports the platform, it won’t need a set-top box to access Play Store or Music. It can even run apps through the platform, such as HuffPost, YouTube, Showtime, and many more.

Google's Nexus Player runs on Android TV and just like its OS for smartphones — it is also available on other devices, including NVIDIA Shield. The main advantage of such media players or Smart TV’s is that a dedicated remote is not necessary and users can use their smartphones or tablets as a remote.

iPhone and iPad users can now have control over devices that have Android TV. Users will however need to connect their Android TV device and their iDevice to the same Wi-Fi network. Once the devices are successfully paired, users can scroll through options using the directional pad on the app. The app can also be controlled using voice commands.
