Apple iOS 9.3.3 Has Been Jailbroken

Good news jailbreaking fans; iOS 9.3.3 has been jailbroken. The downside? It’s just another post of someone with a jailbroken device on the latest beta version of iOS proving code exists to allow jailbreaking, but we’ll probably not see a public jailbreak tool for a while yet.
This comes as a disappointment after months of waiting for a public release, with the last major tool release being in October last year. The news today, as discovered by Redmond Pie is that well-known contributor to the jailbreaking scene Luca Tedesco has jailbroken iOS 9.3.3 successfully. Similar news has been posted about several previous versions of iOS, but no major public tool releases have surfaced for iOS versions that were current.

Despite hopes that following issues with earlier versions of iOS, a release was likely for iOS 9.3.1 or 9.3.2, a public tool release failed to surface. In fact, given that iOS 10 is rumored to be just around the corner, most likely launching with the release of the iPhone 7 later this year, it’s highly likely that jailbreaking teams are waiting for iOS 10 and skipping the rest of iOS 9 entirely.

This is one option I predicted earlier this year – things were potentially looking good for a jailbreak for iOS 9.2 following problems with iOS 9.1, but little if any news surfaced about any of the popular jailbreaking teams such as Pangu or TaiG being close to a public release. As it stands, we now that code exists that can jailbreak the latest version of iOS, which is encouraging.
However, there remains no existing jailbreak tool so avoid any websites claiming to be able to jailbreak your iOS device, even if they claim to do so in a browser, and certainly do not pay any money to do so. Jailbreaking tools have always been free.

There’s reason not to be too downbeat about the lack of a jailbreaking tool as well. We’ve gone much longer before now between tools, we know the code exists to jailbreak even iOS 9.3.3 and the likelihood is that the jailbreaking teams are simply waiting for iOS 10. I’ll be back with more news if there is any as well as a full guide when a tool is finally released.
